Bohol and Cebu Adventure, Part 2B

Made more famous by Cesar Montano's movie, Panaghoy sa Suba, the Loboc River is such a pretty site! Nestled perfectly between rows and rows of lush greens, this river is a must-visit.

We arrived a little past noon. Dennis our trusty driver/tour guide made reservations for us in one of the floating restos and we awaited until the previous batch got off the floating resto. Each of these large boats could have a maximum of 50 passengers. Of course I checked for life vests (yes, there were about 50 on the boats!). Also, if you are as jologs as I, you will recall these floating restos from John Lloyd and Bea's movie, "Close to you". Hehehe! In fact, I saw pics of Bea, Lloydy, and Sam Milby, all proudly displayed outside one of the sari-sari stores close to the dock.

Funny what hunger pains can do to civilized, educated people. When we were on the boat, we eagerly sat on the table for 10, very close to the buffet table. But we later realized, that all the tables were equidistant to the buffet table. We waited with desparate eyes as the crew of the floating resto filled the food warmers with goodies (crab, grilled chicken, pansit, adobong kang kong among others). When the girl said "you may now get your food", I swear, it was war!! Haha! Everyone scrambled to the buffet. May mga singit pa! Di ko napigilan ang sarili kong maniko ng onti sa mga sumisingit! Hehe! Finally, when everyone got their food, naging calm na ang lahat... ang gutom nga naman oo... Syempre sa mga solo pics namin here, happy and full na kami! Haha!

It was also pretty cool to see these kids (Bohol natives) in the river while the motorized floating restos sped by them. Some of the kids would hang out on the branches of the trees close to the river. We even saw one kid to the sommersault (into the river syempre!).

We went to the end of the river where there was a small falls. Unfortunately, on our way back, it poured! So we had to wait on the floating resto for an extra 20 minutes until Dennis borrowed an umbrella. The 20-minute wait heightened our anticipation for our next Bohol treat!

These nocturnal creatures are said to be the smallest monkey in the world! Tarsiers! However, according to scientists, Tarsiers are not monkeys! But whatever they are... cute and creepy pa rin sila! Haha! Check out the huge huge round eyes! And see how small they are!

Most if not all of us had some alone time with the Tarsier. Funny lang how some of the caretakers handles these creatures! Parang stuffed toys! Matitigas din yung ulo ng ibang tourists. The caretakers explicitly said no flash photography... pero ayun! Bulbs flashing everywhere! haha! Pero ako good girl! No flash!

After we relished the sight of these nocturnal creatures, we crossed the street from the Tarsier viewing area to visit the Loboc church. The two pictures on the left side of this image below were taken inside the Loboc Church. It was an old church and was not maintained very well. Incidentally, there was a wedding when we visited! The entourage was made up of more than ten principal sponsors!! Quite a common thing in the provinces. The church on the right side of this image is the Baclayon church, said to be the second oldest church in the Philippines! There was a museum adjacent to the Church and we saw some of the old church relics and mass paraphernalia.

We went to the Blood Compact site in Bool after we visited the Baclayon Church. The tourist spot was so full of tourists that we didn't bother to have our picture taken.

Our last stop that day was the Hinagdanan cave. It was ok. The climb down was pretty steep, and one of the kid tourists slipped! The water inside the cave was cool, but the interior of the cave was not lit very well (hence, I wasn't able to take any good pictures).

We ended the day with dinner at a local Chinese resto... JJ's Dimsum House, I think it was called. I may have ordered waaaay more than we could finish, but we were all happy. Hehe. Value for our money too! We spent less here than on our first lunch at the M-R Restaurant.

I also want to add that that day, during the late part of the afternoon, Tita Marison explored some of the nearby shops. We a couple of awesome hats (to be seen on the next blog entry)!
