Bohol and Cebu Adventure, Part 3A

Sunday morning, we were all off to Cebu! It was back to Ocean Jet Ferry dock in Taglibaran for us. The ride back to Cebu was pretty quick, and we had the Jackie Chan movie (I think it's called "Myth") to entertain us. We weren't able to finish the movie though. Hehe. Mejo mahal yung food sa ferry! P120 for the large Pringles! No thanks!

We arrived in Cebu a little before ten. The hats Tita Marison and I bought the day before in Bohol proved to be trusty companions while we waited for our baggage after we docked in Cebu. Here, the lolas became Mexican bandidas!

We waited for about 15 minutes for our sundo, a van Papa's friends from Cebu rented on our behelf. Anyway, we went straight to Castlepeak hotel for early check in. Of course, since it was Sunday, first things first. We went to Basilica del Sto. Nino de Cebu to hear the 11:30 AM Sunday mass.

The church was jam-packed! According to the basilica's website, the church is over 300 years old! Considering how long it's been in existence, we were all pretty impressed at how well maintained the church was! It's still in exquisite condition. Check out the image above for the great art work on the ceiling and the majestic altar.

They even have this cool teleprompter for the mass songs. Although it was scorching hot outside the church, it's quite well ventilated inside.

When the mass ended, we went around a little. The line to the Sto. Nino was pretty long, so we opted to look at the other nice artifacts instead. Also, there was quite a number of people lighting candles (as seen in this picture below).

Very close to the Basilica del Sto. Nino de Cebu is one of Cebu's great landmarks. Magellan's Cross. Here's a fun fact about the cross. What's displayed in this tourist attraction isn't the actual cross, but is instead the casing of the cross. This cross is the symbol of Roman Catholicism in the Philppines.

During our visit, there was some renovation going on, which explains some of the bamboo sticks. The shot I have here with everyone (except moi) was quite a difficult shot (the contortionist had to be summoned). But it came out rather nicely!

Next stop... some Cebu beach action. By this time (Waaaay past noon), we were all famished! Lola Juling was not feeling very well, and most of us had stomachs growling in hunger. We met up with Erwin Lobitania, Papa's inaanak sa kasal, at the Beachpoint Lounge. When the food finally came, galit-galit kaming lahat! Kainan na!!

Our Bohol hats had a lot of photo op! Here's Tita with her, "Eh kesa naman nakatambak lang dyan diba?" taray look, and Tonton with his, "Nagtext si Boo?!" look

We decided not to swim because... hehe. Hassle magbihis and super bondatacious na yung mga tyan namin from lunch.

Next stop....Shangrila Mactan!
